American Red Cross was founded in 1881 by Clara Barton and has been the nation’s leading emergency response organization ever since. Throughout their years of compassionate service, American Red Cross has expanded worldwide to offer care to the victims of war, natural disasters, and preemptive care to avoid and relieve suffering. In the United States alone, they respond to approximately 70,000 disasters a year. Worldwide, their network encompasses 13 million volunteers in 187 countries.
